Flame Robin (Petroica phoenicea)

Flame Robin (Petroica phoenicea)

The Flame Robin (Petroica phoenicea) is a species of Australasian robin (Petroicidae) found in open forests and woodlands in parts of south-eastern Australia.

What does an Flame Robin sound like? The song of the Flame Robin consists of thin, whistled melodic phrases which have a cheery, melodic tumbling quality. In the spring breeding season, these phrases are often repeated monotonously for several minutes at a time. Flame Robins also make soft wheezy calls and short, soft ‘tlip’ notes.
