White-eared Honeyeater
Calls & Song
The White-eared Honeyeater (Nesoptilotis leucotis) is a medium-sized honeyeater found in eastern and southern Australia. It inhabits a range of habitat types including eucalypt forests, shrublands and woodlands.
What does a White-eared Honeyeater sound like? The White-eared Honeyeater has a wide repertoire of vocalizations, including hoarse knocking calls, deep bubbly trills and liquid melodic song phrases. Common phrases include a burry ‘chew-chew-chew’ series, and a stuttering repeated two-note “ch-chew, ch-chew.” White-eared Honeyeaters also make harsh scolding notes and chatter.
