Dewdrops in Fiji’s Rainforest

by | Jun 9, 2017 | Fiji

During a brief visit to Viti Levu, Fiji, I had the chance to visit some remnant rainforest in the Colo-i-Suva Forest Park. This reserve is one of the few remaining areas of healthy rainforest, most having been cleared over the past century for agriculture.

Being so close to the capital, Suva, it was a challenge to find a recording location away from the noise of distant traffic. However, I eventually located a quiet, secluded valley tucked behind the hilly terrain and made some sound recordings of the rainforest and birdlife.

This sample features the sound of dewdrops and native birdsong in the early morning.
