The Australian Brush-turkey (Alectura lathami) is a charismatic species of megapode common in suitable habitat along much of Australia’s east coast. This species is also known as Australian Bush Turkey. It can be found in a variety of habitats including rainforests, gardens and mangroves.

What does an Australian Brush-turkey sound like? Adult male Australian Brush-turkeys make deep booming calls, inflating their neck pouch to resonate the sound. This species also makes sequences of throaty growls as well as nasal clucking and gulping sounds.
