The Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) is a large white cockatoo species with a distinctive yellow crest. They are found across much of Australia and in parts of New Guinea and Indonesia. In Australia it is a common species throughout much of its range and a familiar bird of the Australian bush.
What does a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo sound like? Sulphur-crested Cockatoos are make loud raucous squawks and harsh screeches. They also make shrill whistles, squeals and yodelling calls as well as an especially harsh, dry alarm call when a threat is detected.
