The Crested Francolin (Ortygornis sephaena) is a medium-sized francolin found in woodlands and shrubby habitats of eastern and southern Africa.
What does a Crested Francolin sound like? The most-commonly heard call of the Crested Francolin is a rhythmic, metallic cackling phrase often given as an antiphonal duet by a pair. These sounds are often one of the first calls of the dawn chorus, but are also given throughout the day and occasionally at night.
