Lilac-breasted Roller
Sounds & Calls
The Lilac-breasted Roller (Coracias caudatus) is a stunning, colourful species of roller found in eastern and southern Africa.
Lilac-breasted Rollers are a noisy species and often call while perched prominently on an open branch or on top of a tree or bush. Although one of the most beautiful birds in Africa, their calls are not so attractive and mainly consist of harsh grates and rattles! Typical sounds include harsh, grating ‘kreh’ notes and dry, stuttering guttural calls.
