Greater Kudu
Sounds & Calls
The Greater Kudu (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) is a large, majestic species of antelope found in woodlands of eastern and southern Africa. Greater Kudu bulls have striking twisted horns which are the longest of any antelope species.
What does a Greater Kudu sound like? Greater Kudu make a powerful, deep alarm bark and this call is likely one of the loudest made by any antelope. These penetrating sounds carry a long distance through the woodlands they inhabit.

The audio in the video below features the typical deep, gruff alarm calls of Greater Kudu. These kudu were likely responding to lions which were seen in the area that morning. Recorded in Northern Tuli Game Reserve, Botswana.
