Purple-crested Turaco
Calls & Sounds
What does a Purple-crested Turaco sound like? Purple-crested Turacos make distinctive croaking, cackling calls often given in duet. These calls are usually given as a series which starts with a few softer, rapid notes which rise in pitch and then transitions into a louder series of higher-pitched more evenly paced notes. They also make loud bubbly calls in flight and also softer contact sounds when birds are foraging in close proximity to one another.
