Green-backed Trogon

The Green-backed Trogon (Trogon viridis) is species of new world trogon found throughout much of Amazonia as well as in parts of Brazils’ Atlantic Forest. It inhabits lowland and foothill rainforests, secondary growth and forest edge. This species is also known as the Amazonian White-tailed Trogon.
There are around 34 species of trogon found in neotropics, many of their songs and calls sound somewhat similar. Trogons often sit quietly while perched in the midstorey or canopy of rainforest, and their calls are a helpful way to track them down.
What does a Green-backed Trogon sound like? The song of the Green-backed Trogon is a series of “kua” notes at a steady pace and usually becoming louder toward the end. They also make a soft downslurred whistle call, purring sounds, bubbly knocking calls and chatter.
