Common Bronzewing
Calls & Sounds
The Common Bronzewing (Phaps chalcoptera) is an attractive species of ground-feeding pigeon found throughout much of the Australian continent and Tasmania.
What does an Common Bronzewing sound like? The advertising call of the Common Bronzewing is a series of deep, resonant ‘oom’ notes. These low-pitched, rhythmic sounds are sometimes mistaken for the call of the Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides). Common Bronzewings also make softer cooing sounds and short gruff calls.
