Diamond Dove
Calls & Sounds
The Diamond Dove (Geopelia cuneata) is a tiny, delicate species of dove found across much of the Australian continent, mainly in arid or semi-arid habitats.
What does an Diamond Dove sound like? The advertising call (song) of the Diamond Dove is a plaintive, soft fluty phrase with two main variants: 1) a melodic series of typically five elements and 2) a slower two note phrase with the first note a more burry, hoarse sound. Diamond Doves also make softer snoring contact calls and cooing notes. When displaying, male Diamond Doves make a repetitive ‘woah’ series.
