Eastern Rosella (Platycercus eximius)

Eastern Rosella (Platycercus eximius)

The Eastern Rosella (Platycercus eximius) is a colourful species of parrot found in south-eastern Australia.

What does a Eastern Rosella sound like? Like other rosella species, Eastern Rosellas make a range of melodic bell-like phrases as well as squeaky chattering calls. Typical song phrases include a repetitive pinging bell-like whistle ‘pink-pink-pink-pink-pink’. They also make harsh scraping ‘tchwet’ calls in flight.
