Eastern Yellow Robin (Eopsaltria australis)

The Eastern Yellow Robin (Eopsaltria australis) is a species of Australasian robin (Petroicidae) found in a variety of different habitats in eastern Australia.  

What does an Eastern Yellow Robin sound like? The song of the Eastern Yellow Robin is a series of repetitive piping whistles which can vary in pitch and tempo. Each series often starts with a few notes which descend in pitch. This song can sound similar to that of the White-throated Treecreeper (Cormobates leucophaea) but the notes are not as sharp.

Another song type of the Eastern Yellow Robin consists of loud, sharp ‘tcheow tcheow’ notes. This song type is given by male birds and is heard mostly at dawn and dusk. 

Other calls include harsh scolding notes, and short high-pitched ‘chip’ notes.
