Galah (Eolophus roseicapilla)
The Galah (Eolophus roseicapilla) is a small, colourful species of cockatoo found across much of Australia. They inhabit a range of habitats from arid shrublands and woodlands to city parks and gardens. Galahs are highly sociable and often form large noisy flocks, espcailly as they congregate to roost communally at night.
What does a Galah sound like? Galahs make loud brassy calls, noisy muffled screeches and metallic splintered notes. When alarmed, they produce harsher grating or rasping sounds. Juvenile Galahs can often be heard making incesant whining calls as they beg for food.
