White-Throated Treecreeper
Calls & Sounds
The White-throated Treecreeper (Cormobates leucophaea) is a small, insectivorous bird found in forest in eastern Australia, from north Queensland to South Australia. It spends much of its time working its way up tree trunks, actively foraging for bark-dwelling ants and other insects.
What does a White-throated Treecreeper sound like? The call of the White-throated Treecreeper is a loud, sharp, piping whistle, often given as a long series that starts out fast and descending before settling into a slower, lower-pitched sequence that can continue for a minute or more. Elements of this call can be quite similar to some Eastern Yellow Robin calls, but the notes of the treecreeper generally sound ‘sharper’ and more clipped. White-throated Treecreepers also make loud pulsing, vibrating trills that can be at a variety of pitches.
